The power station is an amazing engineering feat and you get to go underground to have a look at the machine room – this entails going down a 2km tunnel by bus and then getting out to use a viewing platform plus having a look at the history of the place – I remember going there as a kid in the days before our wonderful health and safety policies came in – we were able to wander amongst the machines on the floor itself – now it’s not allowed but the look and experience is very worthwhile.
We then bused over a 12km road to Doubtful Sound and had a 3 hour cruise around the Fiord and out to the Tasman Sea. We came across a seal or two and also these Fiordland Crested Penguins (who are nesting at the moment).

Also on the Fiord is a Hotel - similar to those we will be staying in on the Official Tour.

We also walked back along the track for a while and Darryl came across some Weka – one of which was intrigued at the object on the log!
We heard from Gary and Marion who were staying in Wanaka tonight and then heading for Invercargill on Thursday.
Jason and Odette have arrived in Te Anau and the wind has obviously caused those windscreen wiper problems for their Mk II as well – must be a model problem! There was controversy between myself and Darryl on whether the car was actually theirs when we saw it as it’s now sporting some lovely plastic alloy wheel trims – I’m sure Peter will LOVE those! Gosh must go find some fluffy dice!!!
Haven’t heard from Bruce n Jackie or Peter or even Lindsay who is now supposedly heading this way – however he is flying over – cheat!
